There have been ups and downs, but I really am like it here a lot more than I thought I would. We spend hours and hours and hours sitting in the same chair in the same tiny classroom, which for me is just brutal. But, I am growing so much. It's not just that we are sitting and listening to someone teach us, but we are constantly doing role-plays with our companins to actually learn how to teach. We have two progressing investigators that we forcus most of our studying on. One is a teacher that acts out a person. The other is part of a TRC program, where most of the people that we teach are converts playing themselves before they were converted.
My companion, Elder Waters, is a super great guy! He's from Cedar City and just graduated Highschool. He likes hunting, sports and being in the outdoors. We get along real well :) Man, I freaking love my district! There is this one Elder who's from a small town in Central Utah and has somewhat of a country accent. He's super humble, doesn't have a single enemy, and is so kind to everyone. But man, he's had an awesome life!! Turns out her went to jail for 3 days for sneaking into the city pool late at night. We were talking about car accidents and he said, "no, I've never crashed my car.. but I did drive my truck into a fence once" XD XD He said it was on prom night and he was trying to impress some girls by drifting on a dirt road and then it crashed into a fence and got a pole stuck in his car!! He's just full of all these crazy awesome stories!
Yesterday we had a devotional that was broadcasted to all the MTCs around the world. We got to hear Dallin H Oaks speak, which was totally awesome. I sang in the choir for that, which was pretty great.
It's kinda funny; before my mission it was always really hard for me to read my scriptures. Now that is one of my favorite things to do.
I've seen a lot of people I know here, which has been really cool. I got to see Christian a few times before he headed off to Russia, which was so awesome.
I miss you all, but I am learning a lot and having a great time!!
One love
-Elder Blake Johnson
