Groovy Week

Another good week here in Barstow. Besides my companion shutting the trunk on my head.. there's a lot of good things happening here. We had an 8-year old baptism yesterday that was pretty interesting. The little girl was nervous, so we have her a blessing to calm her down before the meeting started. It would have been the first blessing any of us have ever given in a girls bathroom, but then a lady had to pee, so we did it outside XD. After the first part of the program we were about to do the actual baptism, but she had some pretty intense anxiety and was too nervous to do it. She was in the back room in tears for about an hour and a half, but then she finally said she would do it as long as only the family was watching. She did it! After that she was all smiles and so happy!

We went to Barstow's Halloween parade the other day. They do it at night, which is kinda cool. We met some pretty neat people there. There were these two guys sitting outside of Denny's. They were a couple of rugged looking guys, but they were nice. One of them used to work as an IT guy in Vegas and used to travel all over the world. He used to tell people do buy him a plane ticket anywhere and he'd go there with his backpack. He's retired now and moves around a lot. I'm not really sure abut the other guys's story.. He just kept telling we need to "hit the bowl!" (smoke marijuana) We said we're good, but he'd say, "come on.. just hit the bowl." haha

But man, we've been seeing some great progress in our investigators. We are teaching this family and the wife has been the least involved. We had a lesson this week that we really good for her. We brought a guy from the ward, Daryl, who told his conversion story. He was raised Christian, but left because he couldn't stand all the hypocrisy that was involved. He then spend 25 years as a Buddhist. Him and his wife decided that they needed God back in their life, and the LDS church had everything they were looking for. The wife we were teaching said, "you finally brought someone that I can relate to." She has had a lot of problems with hypocrisy in religion. But that family is doing really well. They said they've noticed a peace in their home since we've started teaching them.

Life is good. Stay positive and love your life!

1st Transfer Complete - staying in Barstow!

I have officially completed my first transfer! It went by quite fast actually. Elder Rudolph and I are staying here in Barstow, but our third companin, Elder Infanger, is leaving to Hisperia. We're going to miss him.

But things are good here. We are becoming really close to the people we are teaching. They're almost like family to us haha. It's going to be really sad when I have to leave them. But it makes me happy to see them grow.

Stay positive!
